My name is Danielle Johnston and I reside in the City of Winnipeg. I'm attending a self employment program learning how to become an entrepreneur, but this is something I started on my own in my spare time.
July 1st 2003 was not a great day for us because my mom lost her husband, my brothers and I lost our father and my children lost their Papa due to occupational cancer. His name was Brian Johnston a member of the City of Winnipeg Fire Department.

My Vision
after my father passed away I wanted to create a memory book in his honour to share with family and friends.
My idea is to bring it one step further and let all you web surfers share with the rest of us, terrific memories that you have of the people that you have loved and lost.
My dad was one of the firefighters remembered at last years
2006 IAFF Fallen Firefighters Memorial
in Colorado Springs and we received a great book with information of all the fallen firefighters but it was more like reading their obituaries and I wanted to give more. So this is where you come in. This is your chance to tell the world some great stories of your loved ones and let us know them as people and not just as a statistic.
Sharing memories help with the grieving process and I hope you will share yours as well.
I can remember from the time I was a little girl that my dad would come home and tell us stories of his day at work. The men he worked with, the adventures he had, the stories with happy endings and when we were older, stories with not so many happy endings but everyday we took for granted that he would come home safe and sound.
I remember how proud I felt at school when kids would find out that my dad was an everyday Hero and when I got home from school I would beam at how others viewed my dad. Of course like any other people in his line of work, he modestly explained it was his job and he didn't look at himself like a Hero we all know the truth.
Hero's are defined as a man or woman distinguished by exceptional courage and nobility and strength.
I would say that describes every firefighter, police officer, paramedic and armed forces personnel who puts themselves in harms way everyday to help those who need it without thinking about the risk at hand.
